I only became aware of this when someone said "Next year we won't have to get emissions testing!" I was dumbfounded.
Immediately a hundred questions about pollution & air quality flooded my thoughts.
What kind of world are we creating for our children?
Has no one visited or watched video of China, where they have to wear face masks because of the polluted air?
Are we in so much denial that we think that will never be us?
It doesn't save us money... we'll be paying through the nose for all the medical issues it will cause.
Please (please!) can we use a little foresight?
Why are we going backwards?
Lets not settle for a "climate change plan" that INCREASES emissions, STOPS people from saving energy and REMOVES job opportunities in the $26 trillion clean economy.
Ontario must put a price on pollution. Are we actually saying we want to increase our carbon footprint? Is that what we're shouting from the rooftops for the world to hear? Ugh. I'm embarrassed for all of us.
And what of the legally binding obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement? We duck our heads and punk out? Seriously?
Ontario can be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050 but not with this Bill.
We must stop subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies. Then use that money for clean energy solutions.
We have the resources. There are no excuses.
C'mon Ontario, We can do this right!
