This is an unfortunate proposal that is a lazy response to a housing issue. As has been reported, the advancement of this proposal bypasses the administration’s duty to consult with Indigenous people in the area. Further, the proposed changes would threaten landscapes and is an unsustainable resolution to the issue at hand that would just beg more of the same change in the future. A more promising use of time and energy would be to prioritize density in pre developed areas rather than expanding as suggested.
