I do not support the proposed amendments. So much time, effort and funding has gone into protecting these lands, it does not make sense to remove them without a thorough investigation into the environmental impacts of the area and surrounding areas. This proposal will have a negative impact on flora and fauna in the adjacent Rouge National Urban Park and as such proper consultation should be done with the National Park as well as First Nations with current and historical connection to the area. Many other options for improving housing crisis are available, such as only allowing those that live here to own property and there have been many investigations into other options as well that do not require destruction of the environment. These lands were protected as a necessity for the health of the environment and in turn our population, there is no excuse for removing them for developmental gains.
