We are in a housing crisis, and there is no evidence that opening the greenbelt will actually increase access to affordable housing. There is land available elsewhere, and increasing density in residential areas is an option that is better for the environment, and better for the *majority* of people in this province.

There are numerous at-risk species living in the greenbelt that will be greatly harmed by development. Furthermore, building on some of the most important farmland in the province will cause harm for generations to come.

We can't get this land back once it's gone. Homegrown local food matters, especially as food is becoming increasingly more expensive! As climate change worsens, we will need to rely on locally grown food more and more. Please do not take away land that cannot be replaced! As climate change worsens, we also need to be lessening our dependence on cars.

Building commuter suburbs rather than densifying urban areas is counterproductive. I urge you to act in the best interests of the people of this province, rather than a handful of land developers who stand to profit from opening the greenbelt. The people of Ontario do not want the greenbelt touched. I urge you to remove the greenbelt-reallocation parts of bill 23. Keep your promise and protect the greenbelt.
