I am a former title searcher and conveyancer. As such, I have watched far too many hectares of arable land disappear under brick, cement and asphalt while the need for precisely that land increases by its new occupants. But it is not the farmers who get rich off this. Their land was purchased by speculators who make money with money while contributing only to their own wealth.
Laws were written 2500 years ago to prevent exactly the same abuses. All three Abrahamic religions are demonized so that these laws can be dismissed.
The ancient writers tried to elevate humanity by suggesting that humans were given stewardship of the land.
Yet here we stand having once again proven that the ancients knew better than us.
The words of the prophets are drowned in the blood of living creatures sacrificed to the greed of the wealthy whose wealth will never be enough.
