As a resident of Markham, I'm deeply concerned regarding the proposal that lands that have been protected under the Greenbelt Area may be redesignated and used for development. While I do understand that more affordable housing is required, I do not understand the need to use the protected lands to build these homes; it is not as if we have a shortage of land or other areas where these homes can be constructed. It saddens and angers me that the Ontario government in power is going back on it's promise to protect the Greenbelt Area.
I truly hope that changes to Bill 23 be made so that the Greenbelt Area remains protected.
