Members of Ontario…

Members of Ontario government, PLEASE protect our Greenbelt and cease any legislative and political attempts to profit on such blatant exploitative real estate development. This is NOT in the interest of the majority - use all of the rhetoric you want, but you will only be convincing yourselves.

Going ahead with Mr. Ford's plans for the Greenbelt will benefit a very small minority of developers. Developers who must have had a crystal ball when they bought up tens of millions of dollars worth of protected land, given that Mr. Ford himself has said on the record, in the same time period around the 2018 election, that he "heard the people of Ontario" and would protect the Greenbelt. Please do not insult your constituents and allow this vote to erode, physically and metaphorically, the values and assets of this province.

We do not want to get rid of farm land that is required to feed our families.

We do not want to promote urban sprawl. There is more than enough vacant land elsewhere, closer to population centers, that better lend themselves to residential development. The argument of limited land availability is an insulting distraction.

We do not want to turn the GTA and Golden Horseshoe into a highway-dominated mega region of low density housing. There is PLENTY of underutilized land in municipalities throughout the region with zoning that would be more amenable than paving over protected land for private gain.

Please do the right thing.
