I don't know who drew up the material I hve just read on your website, but it is erroneous! That parcel of land in Courtice, at the corner of Nash Road and Hancock road is already a housing area. Granted, the 14 houses on that parcel have been bought up and boarded up ready for demolition. But that parcel of land is not part of any greenbelt, it is not near any greenbelt, and has been used partially for housing for over 100 years. It is not greenbelt, so how can it be taken from a greenbelt to be used for housing? There was a whole article in a local newspaper about many units being built there - high density housing.
So, if your information in your document about greenbelt usage is wrong in one instance, what's to say it's correct for any of the other areas?
The idea of taking greenbelt from one area to use for housing, while adding to another greenbelt area, thusly the final tally of land in greenbelts is greater than now, is the most stupid idea there ever was developed and devised. The land in the Oak Ridges Moraine, for instance, has been designated greenbelt for a specific reason - to filter the water that flows south into the highly populated area along the lakeshore. By adding land to another area, while taking away from this one, does not mean that everything will be fine - it doesn't work like that! We need the land that has been designated in any area for a particular reason - it is not negotiable. It's like cutting off an arm on one person and sewing onto the body of another and saying, "Well, there's still the same number of arms around."
You people have too much time on your hands and too much money to play with. Just leave things alone! If you want new land for residential areas, go north to the tundra - build on the permafrost! It's just as idiotic as what you are proposing.
So, stop lying to people, please. If I can shoot down one area you've misquoted, surely other people will find fault with your material in other areas. We are anything but stupid out here in voter land and we have long memories when it comes time to vote. This effort of yours to sway voters is laughable!!
