I am opposed to the proposed changes to the Greenbelt Act. Building on floodplanes is damaging to the environment as it impacts ground water and established natural areas as well as interfering with wildlife. Such a move is reckless and impacts future generations as well.
The government should be protecting these areas to stop exploitation of fragile areas like the Oak Ridge Moraine and any other areas within the province.
Building on floodplains is never a good idea for prospective home owners and municipalities that will be faced with costs of repairs due to flood damage.
Green space is precious. It should not be taken for granted.
