My proposed amendment is to simply not change the Green Belt. As MPP Mike Schreiner said, this bill “doesn’t pass the smell test”. We in Guelph are vehemently opposed to any changes to the existing Green Belt. It has been categorically proven this bill will not help the housing crisis. Moreover, demonstrating the government can simply and cheaply be lobbied to make changes to public assets for small vested and private interests is one of the most insidious, disrespectful, and dangerous things a government could do. I am offended by what this Ontario Government stands for (however little it may be), and I plan to voicing my disdain for them until they are no longer making decisions.
