I am concerned about paving over more prime farm land that's close to the city. Vegetable/retail farmers need arable land close to the city in order to access their markets. Changing the Greenbelt creates a precedent and a disregard for boundaries. If the Greenbelt boundaries are up for redrawing at any point/changes in the political landscape, there is nothing stopping the land prices from inflating as developers buy up investment land. How can new/young farmers build equity close to the city? We aren't farming to get rich. We're farming to build the soil, capture carbon, and provide our communities with good food.
