Greenbelt lands were to be protected from development. Once built upon, they are lost forever.
Most Canadians have little understanding how small the amount of farm-able land there is in Canada. Unfortunately, some of the best is near large urban centres.
More housing is needed; but we do not need more urban sprawl with low density that is expensive to service with utilities, schools, transportation etc.
If Greenbelt lands are removed this year, what is going to stop them from being removed from protection in years to come?
Greenbelt lands were meant to be protected from development. Do not build on them!
