I find this plan to be extremely unethical on all fronts. During this last month the public and media has only begun to have had opportunities to investigate and learn more about this proposal to open up the Greenbelt to development. This means that this consultation will close before the public has gained a fuller understanding of the severity of the complete violation of integrity and ethics to make this proposal happen.

So why wasn't this public consultation made more public and more easily accessible? Why doesn't it have an indefinite end date so the public can take the time to actually learn about this issue so that the Ontario government is receiving comments from fully informed citizens, a must in a healthy and robust democracy?

From sales of protected land along the Greenbelt before the announcement by Clark to refusal and outright avoidance of consultation with Indigenous nations to the total downloading of responsibility to municipalities while also removing administrative and financial support, as well as the total lack of consultation with environmental experts with the intention of RESPECTING the findings of these consultations and committing through actions to uphold the interests of the people by creating a sustainable environmental future for our next generation, this Provincial Government has failed on ALL fronts.

Without addressing the multitude of major concerns of the people with regards to this proposal, this is a clear violation of the people's trust especially after Ford's election promise not to touch the Greenbelt and a deliberate disregard for the interests of the people by the current party in power. In fact, this appears to be a continuation of this government's plan to siphon public funds and protected lands to serve the private interests of Ford's donors, many of whom are developers.

Anyone within the government not standing up to this proposal and not using every ounce of their power and authority to stop this proposal from going forward should know they are completely and utterly complicit in the destruction of the longterm health of this province. I am unequivocally opposed to this proposal as well as Bill 23.
