The greenbelt includes farmland, wetlands, forests, and wildlife. The government has declared a climate emergency. If the greenbelt act is changed, this will mean less locally farmed food, less access to clean water, more flooding in rural areas, and less places for people to go for health benefits that you can only find in the a forested area. The greenbelt needs to continue to be protected for the well being of Ontarians. It is what Ontarians want. Housing can be placed in already developed areas where there is no life preserving natural habitats. Let's lead the way in preserving our world for future generations. We cannot live or breathe without trees and wetlands, clean water, and food. Please consider other alternatives to housing crisis. How about controlling the number of houses one person can own? How about stopping people from across the world buying property up in order to make a profit. How about stop building condos and put in affordable housing in places like lebreton flats, Ottawa, Ontario. How about we stop catering to the developers and to what they want? All they want is money. They do not care about the people who actually need housing. There are other ways to solve the housing crisis without destroying our natural habitats that surround us and keep us healthy and alive. The greenbelt has been protected up until now for many reasons, those reasons still exist, even more now that we are in a climate emergency, the world climate is changing, and destroying green spaces now will accelerate the warming of our ONLY planet. Soon enough we won't have a home for anybody to live, unless we make changes now. Please do not pass this Bill and allow changes to the greenbelt Act. This is the time now that we take a stand for the environment and everyones health and well being. Thank you for your consideration.
