This is a terrible, soulless proposal. I can't believe you haven't had numerous experts explain to you the value of greenbelt land. It can't be replaced by other land -- that's not how ecosystem protections work. It's baffling that while we're seeing increased climate change emergency indicators, you think developing protected areas is a rational or ethical choice.

You also swore up and down during your campaign and prior that you wouldn't do this. I don't see how you can ask for Ontarians trust when you turn around, in the face of widespread outrage, and directly break your promises. This is TERRIBLE governance and shows a complete lack of integrity. This is compounded by the fact that it seems obvious that PC-donors were tipped off and bought land.

This government doesn't seem at all moved by environmental concerns, this doesn't make financial sense either. Municipalities will see massive budget shortfalls, taxes are going to go up, and this isn't even going to solve the housing crisis (which is the thin excuse you're giving for doing this). The only people this plan benefits are rich developers. And, you know, PC politicians who want them to donate.

I don't believe you will be swayed by comments, but much like the recent CUPE issue, it really seems like you're underestimated how FURIOUS this action will make Ontarians. This is a morally bankrupt choice. Please, please rethink it. You are impoverishing our province.
