The Greenbelt is better off left untouched. There are other ways to sustainably build already open land without 1) touching a protected area, 2) risking increased flooding of several residential and commercial zones situated near the areas bill 23 proposes to open, 3) risking food supply for years to come.

On the contrary, an audit should be launched to understand the mechanism under which all these lands were released for sale to private developers and whether there was an illegal scheme in place or not.
