As on Ontarion I am adamantly against reducing the area of the greenbelt to build houses. This will not address our housing crisis as it does not make explicit policies that these hikes are affordable, that the contractors will build in environmentally friendly ways.
We also need to protect wetlands and agricultural lands for food security and to mitigate climate change.
We also need to protect t biodiversity to protect ourselves-if we destroy this land it will come back on us given the benefits of preserving ecosystems for economic values and ecosystem services like our air and water.

Use available space more efficiently as we’ve seen in other countries. This land is protected for many reasons and to build on it is to blatantly deny our youth a future worth wanting.
