I am concerned about not only the negative impacts this amendment will have to the environment, but also that it will (in contrast with how it’s being sold) exacerbate housing issues in Ontario. Property taxes will likely increase the cost of which which will be passed down to tenants by landlords. It is also unlikely any new homes being built in the Greenbelt will be “affordable.” Ontario doesn’t need more million dollar homes. It needs the Greenbelt.
