Do you have children or grandchildren? What kind of world do you want to pass on to them? All residents of Ontario need to do their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions NOW. 30+ years ago the science was clear that human actions were having a very negative impact on the earth's climate. But we continue to ignore the science, especially people in positions of power that can make the needed changes.
The new Conservative Government is so unbelievably short sided by putting more pressure on our already stressed environment with the cancellation of the Cap and Trade program. It will cancel pollution pricing, erase emissions targets and scrap all funding for energy saving solutions.
To put Ontario on the right track to reduce our carbon emissions we need:
- a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.
- to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
- legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
- Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050
- Ontario to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
