1- establishing such low upper limits (5%),
2- setting the maximum period of 'affordability'
3- establishing 80% of average market rent as criteria for affordability
the proposed amendments to O. Reg 232/18 is insulting all Ontario's citizens, particularly the increasingly large numbers who are experiencing a level of poverty putting them totally outside affordability parameters.
The proposed offer certainty of business and richness for developers and is certain to condemns an increasing percentage of Ontario population to be eternally homeless and/or under-housed.
The affordability parameter should be having sufficient rental units with rent-geared-to-income; it should create sufficient co-operative housing so that certainty of tenancy at a real affordable
cost is available to all.
PLEASE. Do go back to the drawing board and govern for the whole of Ontario population and not only to enrich those already living well.
There is sufficient land available that the infringement on the Greenbelt is unnecessary and present an immense And irremediable burden to future generations. Change the bylaws to allow multiple occupancy in all areas or the province, alley way and mini-houses to be built. NOW!!!
