I believe the OBOA CBCO…

I believe the OBOA CBCO designation is far superior to the ministry exams. When i started in this field i was a 40 year old and i could go to Toronto and take a course and converse with the facilitator and classmates who had major experience in the field. Tests were harder with having to give the code reference as well as the correct answer. I have more proud of my CBCO designation then i am of any Ministry exam i wrote. I wanted to learn and coming from a construction field i did not feel out of place in the classroom. After the Ministry took over the education it was just exams with word play nothing to do with knowledge. 2003 was my first OBOA course i learnt alot and have taken them for 15 years or more. Also building departments sent us in slower winter time to learn every year. That is so lost now.
i still take OBOA courses in the winter paid for myself because the Ministry has brain washed Municipal government that your exams make the best employees. I would rather a framer go to school for a week and learn a course on the Building Code and come back and do framing inspections. Your exams have eliminated hands on knowledge. i worked with people that can read the code but could not build a shed or deck. I hope you do change things in a positive way but i really would like to see it given back to the Building Officials who are very proud of their careers instead of the Ministry exams with just trick questions and also the code was written by us and now its written by LAWYERS. My opinion.
