As the recent UN report emphasizes, we need to act quickly and collectively if we are to control the potentially devastating effects of climate change. One of the most important tools at our disposal is the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and the most effective way to do this is by increasing the cost of carbon emissions. Not only does it protect our children's future, it also helps to build the green energy economy, which will become an increasingly important sector as other provinces and countries switch to a carbon-free or carbon-reduced economy.
