I am writing to ask that the Ontario government does not approve Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018. If this bill is approved, repealing the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016, our province will be taking a huge step back in the global fight to save our planet from the effects of man-made global warming. As one of the largest economies in Canada, our province should be leading this charge.
I am writing because Ontario should put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint. Ontario should end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
If Bill 4 is approved, Ontario is taking a huge step toward the wrong side of history.
