The need to address climate change immediately and aggressively grows greater everyday. The current government has not made any proposal for an alternative to the cap and trade. At a minimum, please have an alternative plan in place prior to cancelling the Cap and Trade if that is the direction you decide to move in. We do not have the luxury of waiting years while the government reviews the options to address climate change - we must act now! The science is clear that climate change is real and is having immediate effects on our environment. Those effects will continue to grow more pronounced in the future. The government says they are cancelling the Cap and Trade because of concerns about how it will effect the Ontario economy - that is a very short-sighted vision. Please have the foresight and wisdom to look beyond the next election cycle. Climate change is not something happening off in the distant future - it is happening now. If you don't care enough about your own future to take decisive action on climate change, please consider the future of your children. Please look in detail at the science and look at the report presented this week by the IPCC.
