I disagree with cancelling…

I disagree with cancelling the cap and trade program. Cap and trade serves to move money from those that emit greenhouse gas emissions to those that will be affected by the effects of global warming and climate change (often those at or below the poverty line). It makes emitters accountable and incentivizes them to innovate and lower their carbon footprints, and directs funds to clean tech companies and other parties acting to reduce the carbon intensity of our economy. There are clear benefits to the emitters, the up and coming clean tech companies, and the people that are impacted by air pollution, extreme weather.

I urge you to reconsider this decision and think about the long term. Read the IPCC 1.5 degree report. We MUST ACT NOW or we will see a very different world come 2030. You have the ability to lead the charge on decarbonizing our economy.
