Repealing this act will not only cost the citizens of Ontario a ton of money now, but will also cost us in the future. Between the cost of pulling out of signed deals with companies, as well as the cost to fight the federal government, it is going to make us worse off. On top of this, if we don't do something about climate change now than we will never do anything. Doug Ford and his government don't care about this and aren't worried about their future. But as someone half his age (and highly educated for that matter) I am greatly concerned for my future and the future of all children and people younger than me. I do not trust that Doug will replace this act with anything better or more effective. The cap and trade program was succesful and helped fund the Green Ontario fund that many Ontarians took advantage of (including all the Conservative voters who put him into power). These policies helped keep money in homeowners pockets while also making a difference through more efficient housing (ie windows, insulation, smart thermostats). I am greatly concerned by Dougs lack of knowledge on the environment, his lack of care of the environment, and his attitude to DO before thinking. His current mindless acts and repeals are not long term solutions and will not benefit any Ontario citizen, or any Canadian citizen, or any global citizen for that matter.
