I am a very very concerned…

I am a very very concerned citizen who adamantly opposes the streamlining of the permit process. Fast tracking a process, which should take into account a great number of factors before making a decision is risky and careless.

These decisions should always be made while regarding the safety of the surrounding environment, the risks involved as it relates to nature, birds, animals, all of the water creatures and the impact on our drinking water to name a few.

The most important thing we have in Canada, is our access to fresh water. When profit outweighs the safety and longevity of our environment that we have to live in - we have a problem. The Ontario government has been fast and loose with our environmental policies, and I strongly oppose this approach of governing.

I think that these processes are there for a reason, and to change them in order to give priority and speed to big developers who want to eat up Ontario's green belt / nature reserves, hiking trails etc - is not government. It's criminal.

The specified activities, which have the potential to cause significant adverse impacts to the natural environment and human health will no longer be subject to either government or public scrutiny prior to commencing operation in Ontario.

As someone who lives in Hamilton, Ontario (ward 3) and struggles greatly with my health because of the density of pollution from the factories along the water - I know just how devastating these decisions can be to the residents nearby. Not having accountability or being subject to public scrutiny is sneaky and destructive, and bypasses the laws and regulations put there to protect us.

Please do not put this motion through.
