It has never been more of a critical time to have a solid Science based Ontario climate change plan that immediately puts into action reducing our carbon emissions with targets to implement immediately. Scientists and experts agree we need to expand renewables, including hydropower, wind, solar and storage. Re-instate renewable energy contracts immediately to have any chance in meeting this need and get as back on track with our commitment to Paris Climate Accord plan. Further growth of this sector can vitalize the economy and help the environment.

As well, removing and reducing fossil fuel use in transportation and buildings is key, as is preservation of green spaces, waterways, forests and habitats.

Ideas to generate funds for low-carbon solutions include ending fossil fuel subsidies, making polluters pay, complying with Canada’s climate plan to unlock federal funds and establishing a “revolving loan system for fuel switching, energy efficiency and clean technology”.
The Saxe reports gives hope in these dark times that could result in a net gain of 52,099 jobs and $12.5 billion in GDP growth by 2030 as determined throught energy efficient programs by Pan-Canadian Framework.

As a Canadian , it is my expectation my Ontario leader will not ignore science and act now. I want to see a low carbon Canada and a climate change plan that addresses immediate needs to reduce carbon and eliminate support to fossil fuels when we have the technology and renewable energy sources for a clean Canada. The latest report IPCC on Climate underlines the urgency to act now as what we do in the next 12 years can save us from catastrophe.
