Excessive runoff to storm water infrastructure that discharges to Lake Ontario will further stress the municipality combined wastewater infrastructure as well as water treatment plants to having to use more resources to treat the wastewater and surface water for drinking water. The already neglected water/wastewater infrastructure are all mostly running at their maximum capacities and this will further stress their resources leading to potential failures.
