It is a hallmark of democracy to have open, transparent processes that protect the people and our resources. Thorough environmental review processes are critical and essential in current light of environmental challenges globally and in our backyard. This is an embarrassment to Canada. The Ontario government should be strengthening environmental protections rather than weakening them. To be absolutely clear, this is a WEAKENING of processes, rather than streamlining. Streamlining doesn’t inherently mean that a process gets better.
