On the ground studies MUST be done to fully understand the impact of water taking on each individual site, not based on some computer modeling from some far away location. No one has tested our wells to find out what the the baseline of water composition is. No one has asked us if our wells go dry in a hot summer ( they do already). No one has acknowledged the extremely destructive impact on the entire aquifer, the forests, and the wetlands which digging below the ground water level will make. the studies that were done on Barbers Lake in relation to the Highland Pit impact were not even based on barbers lake because the testing equipment stopped functioning after 6 months so they used date from Lake Ontario instead. THIS IS COMPLETELY LUDICROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE.

Public consultation and input MUST continue to be part of the granting of water taking permits. If our community of McDonalds Corners had not known about the Highland Line Pit Proposal, we never would have known that the proposed taking will cause the release of radiation in to the aquifer, lakes, wetlands, creeks, and our wells.

The Conservation Authorities MUST be restored as stakeholders in the consideration and granting of permissions for water taking in any area. THEY ARE THE 3rd part objective EXPERTS, NOT SOMEONE HIRED BY THE AGGREGATE COMPANY who only reports what will support the permit being granted.
