The success of controlling invasive species is critically dependent on early detection and eradication. This can only be realized with a strong field monitoring program throughout the province manned by qualified technical staff who dedicated to annual surveillance using rigorous scientific protocol. At the federal level greater surveillance is needed at ports and airports to prevent alien species entry into Canada. Strategic Plans and desk driven bureaucracy will not stop invasive species.
