Section 3.6 Sample Labelling
Many municipalities have transition to Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Therefore the labels are generated automatically. The labels will contain critical information such as Unique ID, Date/Time of the sample, the DWS. The rest is captured in the chain of custody.
It would be beneficial to mention the LIMS or perhaps - electronically generated labels?
Section 4.0 Chain of Custody
Many municipalities generate their on chain of custody as they have a LIMS system. All the municipalities operate under the DWQMS, which includes document control, perhaps a note can be added to the procedure in regards to self generated chains of custody?
Most of the laboratories provide only a conformation receipt of samples at the Laboratory. No signature per say.
Also to store all those chain of custodies requires space (physically or virtually).
Would is the expectation for the chains of custody from an Owner/Operating Authority? Is the sample e-log detailing the sample unique ID and all the required information sufficient?
Thank you for your time and consideration,
