The Ontario Invasive Species Strategic Plan includes some superb proposals. As residents of Ontario who enjoy spending time in nature, we are happy that Ontario is looking to strengthen aspects of the legislation and add new species to the act.
We hope that the government will provide sufficient funding for the field work that this will require, especially to the MNRF and to conservation authorities.
Some community groups are working to monitor, control and where possible, eradicate invasive species in areas near where they live. Making more grants available to these groups would be helpful.
