It has been stated in the Ontario.ca website that “ Historical evidence in Ontario has shown that the maximum distance within which adverse effects could be experienced while a landfill is operating is up to 3 kilometres.“ This proposed expansion that York1 is considering is 1km away from the town of Dresden and the distance of 3km covers almost the entire town. The potential health effects will affect the majority of Dresden residents. The amount of haul trucks would also increase ground level pollution thus increasing the health of all Dresden residence and surrounding towns that these haul trucks need to go through. These trucks are travelling over 400km! How is this saving the environment! When the provincial government is forcing everyone to go electric to reduce our emissions, how is adding over 150 haul trucks going to reduce our emissions in our area. How is Toronto ok with putting the lives/health of our small at risk. Toronto should keep their garage in Toronto not haul it further down south! We are an agricultural town that helps feeds the residence of ALL of Ontario! This landfill will pollute our crops, our soil and contaminant the wells of the residence that surround this proposed landfill.
