ERO number019-8240 Capital Paving application for Permit to take Water from pond located at 1195 Foerster Road, Breslau Ontario

Source Name: Source Pond
purpose: aggregate washing
maximum rate per minute (litres): 11,500
maximum number of hours of taking per day: 10
maximum volume per day (litres): 6,900,000
maximum number of days of taking per year: 200
period of taking: March 1 to December 361 for 10 years
Category 3: water takings are anticipated to have the highest potential of causing unacceptable environmental impactor interference
The proposed water taking qualifies as a Category 3 permit.

I am opposed to this proposal to withdraw such a significant quantity of water from this one pond.
This is not a large pond or water reservoir and such volumes could significantly impact the water table level for properties including all homes in the south eastern part of the Village of Maryhill and properties surrounding the pond location of Foerster Road which all rely on ground water wells for their homes, farms, golf course, Cardiac centre.
In the original pit proposal application the plans clearly indicated that the excavations would not be permitted below ground water levels so as not to impact the wells surrounding the property but this separate application now to withdraw water in such significant quantities for up to 10 hours per day - for 10 years has been identified as Category 3 permit with potential for the highest level of environmental impactor interference which suggests it is anticipated to have an impact.

When wells start to dry up during the hot dry summer months who is going to pay to bring in water to all these surrounding properties? There is already water bans in place in the Village for home owners to limit lawn watering & swimming pool top up due to the fact the subdivision relies on one Regional operated well and then all older properties along Foerster Road, Maryhill Road & St. Charles street have their own individual wells.
