I DO NOT SUPPORT BILL 4.

We are in desperate need of a government who will lead us towards a clean future - we must protect our environment! Doing so is for our collective benefit. The cap and trade program in California has allowed the state to reach their GHG reduction goals years ahead of their target date during consistent economic growth. There is now live proof that what is good for the environment is good for the economy. We must participate and reap the benefits to our individual and collective health in Ontario and the world.

I am deeply disappointed by the decision to cancel this program and find Bill 4 unbelievably irresponsible. Cap-and-trade is not only a proven tool to effectively reduce GHG emissions but is a revenue generation tool that governments can use to invest in needed infrastructure that enables individuals to make the day-to-day decisions also necessary to effectively cut GHG emissions. The new IPCC report now makes it *extremely* clear that continued inaction on climate is no longer an option. We need our governments to step up and stop inflicting irreversible harm to others through inaction and bad policy. Bill 4 has deep implications for Ontarians' well being - I am 26 years old and am genuinely afraid of what the future holds.
