In this proposed ERO there is a section on protecting farmland and an agricultural system approach. You have meetings with OFA who support this protection of farmland however OFA does not support the greatest number of their members for land protection as was evident at the AGM in the fall. OFA proposed that they unilaterally would make decisions for 46,000 farm families with little representation at the table and that did not go well and was voted down by its members. The president of OFA resigned and a new President has come in and the jury is still out. Many, but not all farmers are passive and happy to receive property tax relief as everyone knows how hard of a job farming is with often little financial gain. However,we did not sign up for protecting our farmland as that has huge impact on our property rights. And you the provincial govt via MMAH are falling right into the hands of environmental fanatics that want OUR FARMLAND as parks forever. Your previous ERO that says agriculture farmland preservation was the consensus . Well who are those comments from? Land conservationists, definitely not farmers as they did not vote for support at the AGM in november.
You are removing Canadian property rights for political support VS the law and what is morally right/wrong. You are making us your pawns.
The conservatives were voted in as conservatives and not liberals. You made an incorrect move to remove greenbelted land and now being hyper vigilant to appease your opposers. And property policies such as AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS is causing us to suffer due to this hyper vigilance .
As a result you the politicians not farmers are giving land zealots municipalities a back door to expropriate without compensation and turn our land into parkland.
I propose you put agriculture system on hold . We are not being compensated, we do not need preservation, we need a cease to policies affecting land rights on private property. There are LEGAL CONSEQUENCES to these policies that hurt us instead of helping.
You have picked on a group that are passive but not all are passive as what was witnessed at the fall OFA AGM. You would not pick on urban home owners and erode their land rights…you do so because our property taxes are subsidized, because you think our land belongs to you. Canadians property rights need additional protection and not additional erosion to those rights. Make your policies but not on PRIVATE PROPERTY. We were doing fine before this hyper vigilance began. We are not yours to put on a silver platter to appease the people you annoyed from the Greenbelt fiasco.
