Cap and trade is a very useful and effective policy. The onus is on the polluting companies to reduce their output. Simply passing the cost to the consumer will not work for these companies since they will loose market share to companies that comply with reductions because they are taxed less, sell more since they have lower costs resulting in larger profits.

The taxes collected then were directed towards projects that also reduced emissions such as retrofitting homes, schools and businesses. The tax money was also used to to help Ontario to use other non carbon sources of energy such as electric cars, cycling and solar and wind projects.

Both the science and the evidence of the effectiveness of the cap and trade program is irrefutable! To eliminate it based purely on politics and have no science based policy in place is not going to help save the planet from the impact that science predicts, that global warming will have!

I do not support the cancellation of the cap and trade program.
