Danyle Group Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (waste)

This proposal is to amend Environmental Compliance Approval (waste disposal site) No. 5010-98JKZE for Danyle Group Inc. The facility is 0.9-hectares in area and is located at 51 Shorncliffe Road, Toronto, Ontario.

The facility services the Greater Toronto Area and accepts solid non-hazardous waste from IC&I and C&D sectors for processing and transfer. The facility operates from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday, year round. Additionally, the facility accepts clean soil and rubble from residential sources for off-site transfer to approved facilities.

Processes at the facility include manual sorting of waste to divert recyclables from landfill. Recycled materials and residual waste are sent offsite for disposal at approved facilities.

The amendment application seeks to allow Limited Operational Flexibility for the categories of recyclable materials and placement of recyclable material bins at the facility. Also, residential waste was added as a waste streams, which would be included the current tonneage at the site. Additionally, the amendment clarifies the construction details of the waste storage building, allows for offsite shipment of prohibited materials within two business days, and allow for other business opportunities in the site plan, other than waste management.

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Operational Flexibility (waste), when issued, permits pre-determined modifications to the site’s operations without a requirement to make an application for amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (waste).
