Cargill Limited - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 3678-C6EHCX for Cargill Limited, a meat processing facility located in the City of Brampton, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include cooling towers, maintenance welding, broilers, and processes for raw meat product packaging, storage, production, and shipping activities.

The proposed amendment includes updates to the facility sound levels for current operations from the following noise sources:

• cooling towers
• air-cooled condensers
• make-up air unit
• nitrogen tunnel roof exhausts
• nitrogen unloading from trucks, and
• on-site transport truck movements

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• nickel
• carbon dioxide
• chromium
• manganese, and
• particulate matter

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
