Islamic Society of Kingston - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) for the establishment, usage, and operation of private sewage works in support of a proposed expansion of the Islamic Society of Kingston located at 1477 Sydenham Road, in the City of Kingston, Ontario.

The property is currently serviced by a 13,500-litres holding tank.

The sewage system will be sized to operate with a treatment and disposal of up to 16.1 cubic metres of domestic sewage per day. The existing building will continue operating on the Class 5 sewage system and a Level 4 treatment system is being proposed to service the new building.

A Waterloo Biofilter treatment system is being proposed and the sewage works will consist of:

• an anaerobic digester,
• baskets in concrete tank,
• an advanced nitrogen removal add-on unit (WaterNOx-LS add-on), and
• a raised Type A dispersal bed
