Two significant events have occurred this week that should pause this policy, and require a re-evaluation of the the cancellation of Bill 4, to give the Ontario Government time to take into account the UN IPCC October 8th, SR15, report that calls for urgent action to phase out fossil fuels. I wish to register my unhappiness at the cancelling of Bill 4: Cap and Trade Cancellation act, 2018. By cancelling 752 existing contracts: 10 of which sought international and aboriginal input is nothing short of insanity. Lire davantage

To say that I am deeply disappointed in the government to cancel this program is an understatement. The program was supporting many projects important to our municipalities including transit and energy efficiency in public buildings. Lire davantage

Policies drive change. The Ontario Government must use its policy-making power to ensure that companies - of all sizes - treat our environment with care. Ontario is a leader; we must lead by example to show the world that we take climate change seriously. Lire davantage

If the Ontario Government is to proceed with this legislation (Bill 4), which I do not support, it must put in place a structure or structures that will provide at least an equivalent in current and future carbon dioxide emission reductions, based on credible, scientific evidence, as that which Bill Lire davantage

Please do not cancel cap and trade, our planet needs these incentives for industry to clean up. Change the program to a carbon tax and instead of grants and fancy programs why not redistribute 100% of the monies collected to citizens. Lire davantage

This is a devastating move for the future of Ontario. We had started to move in a direction that secured us as a leader in green innovation, which would have brought employment opportunities for thousands of Ontarians as well as numerous other benefits (e.g. Lire davantage

I view the action to cancel the Cap and Trade act as wildly IRRESPONSIBLE at best in these times of debilitating climate change. Please reconsider your electorate and the planet's future and not just votes.

This reversal is disappointing and short-sighted. New science presented through the UN indicates that combatting climate change is no longer a choice governments can make depending on their economic whims. It is vital that we take action now. Lire davantage

We need to keep our green initiatives and incentives for companies to keep green are so important ! Industries which make money off of creating most of our disposable waste need to be accountable for their actions now, not in 2025! Recycling can’t fix the problem. Don’t repeal the carbon tax! I think that the Ontario government needs to address climate change by putting a price on carbon. If the PC actually believe in a free market principles then a Cap & Trade would be a fair approach. I personally think a tax would be better but that is just me.

Given the recent international report about the problems the world is facing as our climate changes, I am deeply concerned about this Act. Plesse reconsider. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we should be supporting a carbon tax.

The world is clearly changing. Just look at the amount of tropical storms and hurricanes that hit the world this year. Or the fact that now we can ship through the Arctic! The fact is we are the plague that is making this planet sick. Lire davantage

I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions in line with our obligations to the Paris accord. You should focus on job creation and investment in the clean economy. It's the sector of our future so do not neglect it.

Canada is a country with a cold climate. It is easy for Canadians to accept what is euphemistically called Global warming. A couple of degrees warmer weather in winter might even be welcomed … in Canada. People in warmer climates have been deeply concerned about how things are heating up globally. Lire davantage
