The new proposals to reduce redtape and make positive changes to Pesticide regulations are very good. It is very good to see these steps forward. I will continue to support this government in making these kinds of positive changes and reducing redtape.
To ensure that polluters are actually facing consequences for their illegal actions we need to preserve large, daily fines with no caps. Dump a toxin every day for a month means 30x$100,000. Only high and unlimited fines will actually make them comply with the law.
Even if this government can't acknowledge that there is a climate crisis, it cannot deny that dumping toxic crap into lakes or pumping garbage into the atmosphere will damage the ecosystem, thus creating immediate and long term impact on health through polluted drinking water, air and food.

I do not support any legislation that will make it easier for polluters to continue polluting. This new Bill 132 looks like it will reduce fines to polluting businesses and reduce the motivation for such businesses to change their behaviour in the long term.

The bill to rescind s.34 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is not a good idea; new chemicals and the like need to be studied and found to be safe before workers are exposed to them, or we risk another workplace cancer cluster like we have in Peterborough or Kitchener.

The following is a summary of the recommendation regarding ERO #019-0774 from the Region of Peel:
- That Section 12, Clause (1) (h) of the Act be retained to enable the Minister and LPAT to have regard to the proposed haul route and impact of truck traffic to and from the site.

This is ridiculous. Fines for polluting should not be lowered. You may refer to this as red tape when it actually serves to discourage companies that would abuse our lakes and eco systems. Do better!
My partner works in an industry that requires strict adherence to timelines and daily fines for not meeting deadlines are common. His organization is very incentivised to meet these deadlines because daily fines are quite detrimental the bottom line.

Polluters should continue to be fined $ 100 000 / day without a cap. They endanger the health of Ontarians and that of the environment, the only life support system we have.

I am concerned that the proposed amendments regarding fines for infractions on a one shot ie per incident basis will amount to enabling polluters and contaminators to simply pay (and Cheaply) to continue to pollute and contaminate.

We must stop the proposal in schedule 9 of Bill 132 to cap total fines for industries dumping illegal sewage into our water, polluting our air, and using illegal pesticides. It is much cheaper than daily fines and will cause more damage to our environment than good!

I am very concerned with bill 132. We are doing very well as an economy and undermining our environmental legislation for the sake of business does not make sense. I am particularly concerned with how the bill 132 makes it easier to pollute and makes the penalties for pollution much less.

I am very concerned about Bill 132. It is not better for people! I even question that's its smarter for business, there is no business on a dead planet. Repealing environmental protections is not okay! Please stop the greed and save what's left of the environment.
We want more environmental protection not less. It's absolutely appalling that you would make polluting Ontario a more profitable endeavour for businesses!
Pesticides kill insects which are necessary for pollination, we need them for our food supply. In turn, they kill birds which we also need. We are contaminating our own bodies from pesticides in the soil, groundwater, and crops.
STOP the greed!!

In today's world with climate change, urban sprawl, and development into areas of significant ecological importance and destruction of vital habitats such as wetlands, we should not be weakening our policies but we should be strengthening them.

Don’t allow aggregate extraction to damage our environment, our eco systems, and our waters (underground aquifers). Environmental impacts must be the priority. There are many potential pits/mines in remote areas at higher elevations. Keep extractions away from people.

I am very concerned about the direction this government is heading. We need to protect our environment not open it up to more development. I agree we need growth but not at the expense of our health and environment. Allowing less restrictions will do this.
