Wetlands in southern Ontario have been destroyed and lost by 90% and Ontario is proposing to remove and label some of them as hazards!? This is a joke right? Lire davantage

I do not understand why both new homes and conservation cannot coexist. We do not support this shortcut. I am tired to seeing our natural areas clear cut to make way for cookie cutter homes when there are many older homes that could be renovated if there are incentives. Lire davantage

The problem with conservation authorities (CA’s) is the amount of over reach they engage in. Their mandate was flood control and water management systems, which the riding incidents of flooding occurrences indicate they have failed at, as they became focused on other non mandated functions. This legislation is a long overdue necessity. ERCA has had incredible over reach for FAR too long. Thier level of power is such a marked departure from the original mandate from when they were first enacted. I support the legislative changes from the Ford government, it's about time.

Conservation authority should only be allowed to control property that they have purchased and hold in a Public Trust. Lire davantage

I do not agree with the proposal to build so many homes and disregard green space protection. We need more high density buildings rather than destroying all our green space. Lire davantage

I am strongly opposed to this proposal. This is not the answer to housing - people need decent wages to compete with I terbaltion investors in housing in their own province. Lire davantage

Please stop interfering with our CAs and impacting our green belt! The negatives outweigh any positives!

The proposed legislation is a necessary step to address the housing shortage we face in Ontario. Especially because record targets of immigration have been established by the federal government. Lire davantage

I like to say no to building more houses when it comes to expense of destroying our environment. This is nothing but the premier creating more income for his buddies. Our children need all this natural habitat and the green areas around. Lire davantage

I hope ERCA loses all of there power that they enforce on the home owners of Essex county. There is so much red tape, high fees and back log that ERCA imposes on the home owner that is so ridiculous. As a home owner, I do not want to pay any money through my taxes to them. They need to be defunded.

While it is true that housing is a major issue in the GTA, paving over the greenbelt will have disastrous social and environmental consequences. There are a number of reasons why this decision is not necessary and, in fact, will be detrimental to the lives of Torontonians. Lire davantage

This is a terrible idea. There are already so many issues in our area with a high water table. You are basically giving developers permission to tear down trees and uproot more natural habitats. Lire davantage

Sharing this comment on all applicable legislative changes: Conservation authorities are the experts at performing their work (i.e., natural hazard assessments, planning for development in flood-prone areas, conservation and recreation programs), not municipalities. Lire davantage

Stop Bill 23. We are in a climate crisis. It will not provide the truly affordable and sustainable housing we need. What it will do is kill birds and wildlife, destroy vital green space and wildlife habitats, result in development of unsuitable and environmentally significant areas (i.e. Lire davantage

Housing is important, but so is the natural environment. We have to find a way to meet all needs. As we've seen recently in Florida, our natural areas play an important role and need to be governed accordingly. Lire davantage

The power of the conservation authority should not be diminished! If anything it should be strengthened. We are in a climate emergency. Taking away environmental protections such as the powers of the conservation authority to protect critical wetlands and ecosystems is insane. Lire davantage

I lived in Calgary Alberta during the immense flood of 2013. Much of the damage could have been prevented had development been limited in areas that were prone to flooding and sensitive areas near water. Conservation authorities help prevent this type of damage. Lire davantage

Do NOT go through with this if you don't want Ontario to flood in the future!!!! Housing should not come at the cost of current and future generations experiencing natural disasters and enormous loss that COULD HAVE been prevented!!!! Lire davantage
