The Greenbelt is meant to be protected green space for the enjoyment of all. It was also meant to be protected in perpetuity. The Ford government has previously promised that this will not be touched.

For the love of all things holy, don’t get rid of the green belt to build housing! We need the green belt for so much more than housing! Once it’s paved over, you can never get it back! This would be the worst decision EVER.

Do not do it. Once these lands are gone, they are gone. Even our own planners tell us it is not necessary. This is the PC government going back on their word. The people of Ontario do not want this.
~ The premier made a pledge in the last election that he would not touch the greenbelt. He cannot break this promise.
~ The government cannot also remove and add lands to the greenbelt to suit their political purposes. This is egregious.

As a resident of the Town of Erin, I believe the designation of new Greenbelt lands in my municipality is not necessary. These are lands that are generally not suitable for development, and they are already well protected by the Official Plans of Wellington County and the Town of Erin.

There is MORE than enough space to build housing without touching the #Greenbelt. This will do nothing to ease the housing crisis, but will dismantle environmental and food supply protections only to benefit townhouse developers.
The people of Ontario DO NOT want this. If you (our PC provincial government) move forward, you are saying that democracy doesn’t matter to you. You may have been elected, but that does not mean that you can now take the promises that you have made before the election and throw them out now.

I disagree with developing the greenbelt!!!! There are plenty of other areas to develop. Once it's developed it's gone forever as a natural environment. It is a treasure and should not be touched.
Please do not ignore the facts below! We need this in Hamilton now!

Protecting the green belt protect our health, our children’s health. Destroying our greenbelt will do nothing to provide affordable housing. There will be no accountability on ensuring the land is used to produce this outcome.
