The past 3 years of pandemic life has dramatically made it obvious how much Ontarians need green spaces. During the pandemic people sought out green spaces to relieve the mental stress of living in urban areas. Now your government has decided to reduce those green spaces and increase urban sprawl.

Leave it as a conservation area. There’s a reason it was designated one in the first place. I wholly opposed bill 23 and any and all changes to the green belt.
The Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act has provided protection of this important ecological and hydrological land for over 21 years and there is no reason to remove any of this land from protection now.

I am completely opposed to this and any future bills that amend or make changes to negatively impact the greenbelt. We were told the greenbelt would remain untouched.

The Oak Ridge Moraine is a vital water shed and home to many endangered animals. This land needs to be protected against development. As a voter I do not want to see our precious area pick apart for development and worry what door building here will open.
Please do not make changes to one of our most vital natural land structures. The conservative government made a commitment to the people when they were elected not to touch green spaces and to find alternatives to encroaching upon this protected space.

By definition, landscapes are unique and many cannot be replicated. Destruction of lands and their biota that they support is irreplaceable. These original lands were chosen using a scientific approach, but an accounting sheet. Several landscapes are irreplaceable.

Expanding development onto the Greenbelt is a short-sighted and ill-thought-through attempt to ease the housing crisis. Paving over these environmentally sensitive lands will make climate emergencies more likely and endanger Ontario’s food security.

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the provisions in Bill 23 that:
• Takes away land use planning powers from municipalities
• Takes away needed development charge revenue from municipalities resulting in increased taxes for ordinary taxpayers
