First of all, thank you for listening to hunters around the outcomes they’d like to see-namely more tag opportunities for hunters.

That being said, myself along with every moose hunting group I’ve spoken with fundamentally disagrees with the approach taken for this reason: we do not have enough points in round 1, we all put in for round 2 and multiple people pull a tag. We now have to claim more than one tag, taking an opportunity away from another hunting group and exporting points for our group to be able to get a tag in future years. This needs to be addressed prior to the changes being made. For example a solution may be if a group uses a group hunt code and more than one tag is drawn, the group has a set deadline to decide to claim or not claim the tag. Alternative solution would also be, leave the process as is where people can decide to claim a tag or not claim a tag at an earlier date. All tags not claimed go into a queue on a specific published date, individuals have to join the queue and are given the number of tags for each wmu that they can select and their place in the queue. Tags are then claimed until there are none remaining. This would happen on one specific day and go until no tags remain. This way it addresses the outcome desired while providing group hunters flexibility.
