I am NOT in support of making these changes to the water -taking application process. Clean water is not limitless and with the climate crisis happening it is even more critical to evaluate carefully each application to take water. If it is not going to be returned to the water system there is good reason to deny these applications. The local environment should be studied to evaluate present conditions in each location. Just because there may have been plenty of clean water 10 or 20 years ago there, it doesn't mean the same water is available. The value of clean drinking water is totally undervalued in Canada. When we have people living without clean drinking water for decades this is not acceptable. The rights of Indigenous people and the need to consult should also be done with each application. At this time of increased peril and possible extinction to many species we need more rules & regulations, smart ones, not less.
