Dear Minister Flack,
Thank you for your commitment to: Moving people and goods faster by reducing gridlock and accelerating transit delivery. I am glad that the government of Ontario recognizes that we have an issue with traffic.
I do not support current restrictions on bike lanes as is currently outlined in the proposed Bill 60.
As a car owner in Toronto I am thankful that I have multiple transit options, including walking, TTC, GO, cycling and driving. I am surprised and disheartened that the Conservative government is restricting my transit options by forbidding flexibility of future reconfigurations of municipal roads. Why is this government so heavy-handed in limiting choices for Toronto residents? As population density increases, your governments should be looking to the future, not to the past, for transit solutions. Having lived in Europe, I have seen how large cities are able to successfully manage multiple transit modalities.
Bill 60 needlessly adopts a Trumpian culture-war initiating division over transit options that has no place in this country.
Please consider modifying Bill 60.
